5CliviaMay 11, 2012
By Peter Tsang
I ordered this plant May 2, 2012 and received it eight days later on May 10. I thought I was going to get 1 huge plant. I was pleasantly surprised to receive two large Clivias (rather than one larger plant) in a plastic pot. One has healthy green leaves. The other one has a seed pod on the stem, (which had previously flowered at the nursery), along with healthy green leaves. (I also found a third Clivia, a small offset, with not many leaves, but with a very healthy root system.) I repotted all three Clivias in separate pots.

The Clivia with the seed pod has 17 (mostly broad) leaves.
The second Clivia has 16 (mostly broad) leaves.

The Clivias were well packaged in a very large and tall oversized box with other cardboard packaging material to hold the pot, so the plants arrived healthy and in good condition.

The image of the Clivia on the screen looks similar to what I got.

~~~
When Clivias are young, they have narrow leaves. As they mature, the leaves get broad across the width. A younger Clivia with 12-14 narrow leaves may not be mature enough to flower, while an older Clivia with 12-14 broad leaves may be mature enough to flower.
Hass avocado goes well with Fuerte.
